The Peonies Have Bloomed

"I equate peonies with love because they're the first blooms of summer" Issac Mizrahi.
It's true, I often mark each season by what's blooming. For me, the first flower to bloom just as summer is blooming are the peonies. Did you know that there are over 40 varieties of peonies? You can see 31 peony species here as they come in colors from the hallmark Blaire Waldorf pink to smooth honeysuckle yellow.
While this is a photography website, not a horticulture resource, peonies are one of the most photogenic flowers out there!
Since peonies are so beautiful & summer is only starting, I wanted to create a virtual gallery showcasing my flat lay photography as well as some of this year's peonies. My favorite photos from this peony set are the ones with the elegant fabric wrapped in & out of the frame.
Pro-tip, flowing fabric, in flat lay photos, really creates an elegant {& editorial} mood. Using fabric is also another way to add your own branding {colors, texture, etc} in your images.
